The water technology company Idrica is, once again, the official sponsor of WEX, the Global Water & Energy Exchange, which will be taking place from June 27th – 29th 2022 in Valencia, Spain.
This is the second time that WEX Global, which is one of the world’s major forums for water professionals, has chosen the Spanish city of Valencia to host this prestigious event. The 15th WEX forum will be attended by hundreds of leading personalities and decision-makers in water, technology and water cycle management.
Idrica, which is headquartered in Valencia, is extremely proud to be co-hosting the event, alongside Global Omnium as the welcoming utility. After the resounding success of the 2020 forum, the decision to host the event in Valencia once again was made this week by WEX’s CEO, Mark Barker, and Idrica’s CEO, Jaime Barba, to strengthen the Spanish city’s commitment to becoming the world’s water capital.
“We are very pleased to be hosting WEX for the second time. The world has changed radically since the COVID-19 pandemic began and the water industry has a lot to contribute to the recovery that we need to work on together,” Barba explained.
Last week, Idrica’s sister company, Global Omnium, announced a pilot program with the Valencian Regional Government to identify genetic traces of the virus in the city’s sewers.
Last year, under the title “Delivering Smart Circular Solutions for a more Sustainable World”, WEX 2020 brought together more than 80 speakers from 40 countries. WEX Global occupies a unique place in the water conference calendar due to the prestige of the participants and the opportunity to hold 1-to-1 meetings. In addition, expert panels will be scheduled to discuss smart water management, IoT technologies and the digital transformation of the industry.
At the event, the Valencian Oceanografic aquarium will be the scenario for the WEX Global Awards, in the categories of process technology, water and energy, water and/or wastewater management, operations, infrastructures, technology, finance/partnerships, desalination and the circular economy.
In a recent statement, Mark Barker welcomed the fact that “Idrica will again be our main sponsor and host, and Global Omnium the Welcoming Utility. Both organizations made a huge contribution to the success of WEX Global in 2020 and we are looking forward to working with them to create an even better summit in 2022″.
Headquartered in Valencia, Spain – and with operations in Europe, the United States, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America – Idrica is a leading company in the digital transformation of the water industry, providing services and technological solutions for managing the entire water cycle. The company was born early this year with a founding team of 180 experts around the GoAigua technology, which was implemented a decade ago in the centennial Spanish water utility Global Omnium.
