The first Idrica Water Security Day will be held on Thursday 16 April

In the context caused by the COVID-19, water supply is key. Water is now more than ever a strategic resource, whose quality and supply must be constant and secure. Experts from Latin America and Spain will share in an online panel their vision on water security, the role of technology and social issues.

Idrica, the company sponsoring the digital meeting, is a leader in digital transformation for the water industry, offering services and technological solutions for the water cycle management. The company provides a unique differential value based on its experience and knowledge of the sector.

The panel will address the issue of water security from three different points of view, oriented towards possible solutions based on the current context of the water system in Latin America. The meeting will take place this Thursday, April 16th at 10:30h in Mexico and Colombia, 11:30h in Washington DC and 17:30h in Valencia, Spain.

The following experts are taking part in the online meeting Idrica Water Security Day as speakers.

Jaime Barba

CEO of Idrica and Water Technology Expert. He has a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. He has more than 18 years of experience in the water sector.  Throughout his professional career in the world of water resources, he has held positions of responsibility for more than a decade, including CEO of GoHub, the open innovation hub for deep tech, industry 4.0 and smart cities, Director of Digital Transformation at Global Omnium and Director of Information Systems at Aguas de Valencia Group, a 130-year-old company responsible for managing water in 400 municipalities in Spain.

Dra. Judith Domínguez

Coordinator of the Water Safety Observatory of El Colegio de México. She has been a consultant on environmental issues for Mexican government institutions (SEMARNAT, INE, CONAGUA, CONEVAL) and international institutions (IDB, ACAP, GWP, OAS, UNEP, UN HABITAT, ECLAC). She is the director of the institution’s Water Safety Observatory, where she has been a teacher for a decade and a half.

Dr. Román Ortiz

Vice President for Latin America of Cordillera Applications Group (USA). He is an analyst and consultant on Security and Defense issues. He has been director of the Master’s Degree in Political Science at the Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá), professor at the Universidad Complutense (Madrid) and the Universidad Nacional de Educación Nacional a Distancia (Madrid).  He has also taught at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá and at the Universidad del Externado, as well as at the National Defense University in the United States.

The panel will be moderated by Alejandro Bazán, a journalist and editor specialized and interested in economic and financial issues. He has been the Director of Economics and Finance of Grupo Expansión in Mexico for seven years.
