Peruvian utility EPS Grau reduces

non-revenue water by 15%

The GoAigua solutions boosted water efficiency in EPS Grau and introduced flow and pressure monitoring, as well as the transfer of knowledge to the company’s sales, operation and maintenance departments.

Challenges of the project

The EPS Grau utility sought to offer a better service by classifying, analyzing and monitoring consumption, characterizing water losses and detecting irregularities.

Idrica offered its consultancy services to implement a system aimed at reducing non-revenue water in sector IV of the Piura water network.

Success Story

EPS Grau is responsible for providing drinking water production and distribution services, as well as sanitation services in the Piura region.
  • Project location: Peru, Latin America
  • Solutions applied: GoAigua FlowSens, Meter Insights and Water Twin
  • Funded by: Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)

Solutions applied

The GoAigua FlowSens solution was implemented to monitor drinking water distribution networks and to locate leaks and fraud early through intelligent algorithms. As a result, key events such as undeclared leaks and changes in consumption behavior patterns were detected.

GoAigua Meter Insights was also deployed for the integration, management and advanced analysis of data from different types of meters.

The project also included the implementation of GoAigua Water Twin, which provided the client with a global view of its operational situation, through the integration of decentralized data and the application of advanced algorithms for decision-making.

Benefits and results

One of the project’s outcomes was the detection of more than 20 events in the analyzed sectors, deposits and micro-meters. The resolution of incidents, thanks to field work, reduced non-revenue water by 15%.

The GoAigua solutions enhanced water efficiency in EPS Grau and introduced flow and pressure monitoring. In addition, this pilot project boosted the utility’s digital transformation process, in which the transfer of knowledge to its sales, operation and maintenance management was crucial.

The pilot project was funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) with the participation of the Peruvian Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation.
