Thanks to the collaboration with Xylem, Yorkshire Water implemented Xylem Vue powered by GoAigua to improve the management of non-revenue water, and in turn, monitor field operation, process efficiency, and the effectiveness of the technologies used in leak detection. The BI panel´s versatility enabled the information flows to be customized within the platform and to be adapted to Yorkshire Water’s operational reality.
Challenges of the project
Yorkshire Water was looking to improve non-revenue water management. The main challenge of the project was to unify and manage the wide variety of data that Yorkshire water receives from multiple devices and systems. This enabled the utility to handle the entire life cycle of each event from detection to work-order assignment from a single platform.
Yorkshire Water is the UK’s largest water supply and treatment utility. The company serves nearly five and a half million people in different areas of Yorkshire, managing a water infrastructure with more than three hundred kilometers of water mains and serving more than sixty thousand properties.
- Project location: West Sheffield- United Kingdom
- Solution applied: Xylem Vue powered by GoAigua: BI panel together with Leak Detection & Localization and Meter Data Analytics
Solutions applied
The project included the implementation of three modules that are part of Xylem Vue powered by GoAigua Solution: Leak Detection, Leak Localisation and Meter Data Analytics powered with a Business Intelligence (BI) panel.
Six thousand sensors from fourteen suppliers were deployed across Yorkshire Water’s network in and around the Sheffield area, helping to monitor flow, pressure, transients, water quality, acoustics, hydrophones and advanced metering infrastructure. The implementation of a central platform enabled all these events to be managed from a single interface portal, thereby improving the company’s operational efficiency and effectiveness.
