Key objectives include remote water management, real-time data integration, and streamlined emergency response capabilities.
The Client is Immokalee Water & Sewer District, which serves more than 24,000 year-round residents in Immokalee, an unincorporated area in Collier County, Florida. During the six-month harvest season, the district’s water demand more than doubles, making efficient resource management a priority. Established in 1978, the district operates as an Independent Special District, maintaining water and sewer systems to ensure affordable and reliable services.
The district has partnered with Xylem to implement over 7,200 ally® smart residential water meters, supported by the Sensus FlexNet® communication network. This state-of-the-art system allows for remote water usage monitoring, pressure tracking, and water quality assessments. The FlexNet® network will also enhance emergency response capabilities, such as remotely shutting off meters and re-pressurizing the system during hurricane season.
Thanks to the Xylem Vue digital platform , the client will be able to centralized and integrate data from communication networks, SCADA systems, and weather sources. This real-time information will empower district staff to make informed decisions, respond quickly to operational changes, and detect leaks early, minimizing water loss and costs.
Supported by state funding, the project balances technological advancements with the district’s commitment to maintaining affordable rates, ensuring long-term benefits for the community and enhanced transparency for its customers.
