Idrica and Brabant Water to partner in pipeline network digitalization

Brabant Water has reached an agreement with Idrica, a software supplier that manages the water cycle. This partnership will enable the utility to take the next step forward in the digitalization of their 20,000-kilometre-long water supply network, also known as their digital twin.

Next year, Brabant Water will implement the Xylem Vue powered by GoAigua platform developed by Idrica. This platform will help the utility to connect and manage their digital network and optimize their activities simply, securely and holistically. It will be the hub where all the measurements from the pipeline network and from customers’ smart water meters will be brought together. This will enable Brabant Water to collect real-time data about the status of the entire network and the water that flows through the system, from the drinking water plant to the water meter.

Thanks to this data, the utility will be able to intervene immediately if there are any incidents in the water supply and respond to major challenges such as climate change and changing water demand. In addition, the deployment of their smart water meters will enable their customers to automatically pay for the water they have used, gaining insights into this water consumption and savings made. Brabant Water aims to fully deploy the digital pipeline network by the end of 2025.

According to Hanneke van de Ven, the Sector Director of Distribution at Brabant Water,This partnership means we can intensify our collaboration with Idrica. They are aware of the challenges Brabant Water faces because they have gone through the digital transformation themselves in their own drinking water utility. This makes them the ideal partner to support us on our digital journey, both in the implementation of the platform, as well as in the exchange of knowledge and experience in the digitalization of drinking water.”

Jaime Barba, CEO of Idrica, expressed his satisfaction over the partnership with Brabant Water, stating: “We are sure that this collaboration will be a turning point for the utility”. Barba also emphasized the importance of the Xylem Vue powered by GoAigua platform, and the Idrica-Xylem partnership, through which the companies “work hand-in-hand to showcase the importance of the digital transformation of water”.
