The second ValgrAI Scientific Forum was recently held to gather and promote the collaboration of the main players in Artificial Intelligence. On this occasion, over 220 people took part in the event.
This forum, which is promoted by ValgrAI (Valencian Graduate School and Research Network of Artificial Intelligence) and backed by the Universitat Politècnica de Valencia and the Valencian Regional Government, has become a meeting point for international experts, students and researchers who are looking for first-hand insights into the latest advances and innovations in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
Idrica, the leading company in digital transformation in the water sector, founded by Fomento Urbano de Castellón, S.A., was one of the expert participants at the event. Pablo Alcoriza, the company’s CTO, was commissioned to give a presentation on Idrica’s work in general, and more specifically in the area of Artificial Intelligence. On this point, Alcoriza pointed out to the audience that this technology “is not an end in itself. Instead it is a tool to achieve an objective that must be efficient, practical, sustainable and scalable, among many other things”. The Idrica executive described some of the use cases in which Artificial Intelligence has played a key role in improving the automation, efficiency and sustainability of water systems, as well as enhancing system maintenance to create a more sustainable water cycle.
Throughout the event, attendees had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the work carried out by Idrica in promoting the transformation of the water sector, thanks to the stand that the company had at the event as a ValgrAI partner.
Idrica and ValgrAI
Idrica and ValgrAI have reached an agreement to promote studies and research into Artificial Intelligence in the Valencian Region, which will lead to the development and support of postgraduate teaching, research and studies in AI and other related disciplines.
This partnership aims to respond to the technological needs of companies and encourage new talent in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Therefore, Idrica has become a driving force for cooperation between the best research teams in the Valencian Region, pooling efforts to address the technological challenges posed by AI more efficiently, and thus attract and promote comprehensive training for new talent in the future.
ValgrAI, which is made up of the Valencian Regional Government, the five public universities in the Region and several companies in the sector, is an excellent example of cooperation between the worlds of business and academia to provide answers to the new needs of the knowledge society. Jaime Barba, CEO of Idrica, underlined the importance of this partnership, stating that it represents “a commitment to innovation, in the form of training and attracting talent, in conjunction with three fundamental players: the public sector, the business world and academia”.
Therefore, this partnership between Idrica and ValgrAI will boost the uptake of AI in the Valencian Region, as a way to accelerate social, educational and industrial change.
